Door County, Wisconsin!

We'd been to Door county, Wisconsin for the memorial day weekend and enjoyed the exquisite beauty of the various islands in the door peninsula. With over 300 miles of scenic shoreline dotted with bustling harbors and quiet coves, Door County offers a wealth of water-based recreation. Sandy beaches, sailing, cruising, boating, fishing, boat rentals, charters or a unique car ferry ride to Washington Island are just a few ways to enjoy the sparkling waters of Green Bay and Lake Michigan.

Small wonder Door County was named one of the top ten vacation destinations in North America. There were some breathtaking landscapes! The changing seasons add to the beauty of the peninsula. Presenting some of the best shots!

Will see you shortly with a Temptation, stay tuned!

A trip to Mexico City!!

We had been to a different country this week. It was a business trip for my husband, but i joined him to make it a pleasure trip :).Thought of sharing my Mexico city trip highlights and its tempting history.

México City is...the capital of México, very old, the worlds largest city, the financial, political and cultural center of México, the nightlife capital of México, one of the worlds great cities, huge, one of the world's most difficult cities to drive in, filled with exciting things to see and do, an energetic metropolis or just an incredible place to visit. It is set high in a Central American mountain valley.

Modern Mexico City is a sprawling behemoth whose sheer size and vivacious spirit can dizzy the newcomer. Flowers sellers tote their colorful baskets around the streets, all kinds of vendors peddle their goods everywhere you turn, and street performers sing, dance, play, juggle, swallow fire to get some applause and a few pesos(Mexican currency).

About the worth visiting places:

Plaza del zócalo: In many cities in Mexico, a zócalo is the main plaza or square, set in the heart of the town. This is unique to Mexico. Zócalo in Mexico City is 240 meters square, making it one of the largest city squares in the world. The plaza used to be known simply as the “Main Square” or “Arms Square,” however it is called the “Zócalo” today.

Metropolitan Cathedral: The Mexico City Zocalo is bordered by this Metropolitan Cathedral (Spanish: Catedral Metropolitana de laAsunción de María). It is the largest and oldest cathedral in the Americas. The cathedral was built in sections from 1573 to 1813. The cathedral has four facades. The two bell towers contain a total of 25 bells. Over the centuries, the cathedral has suffered damage. A fire in 1962 destroyed a significant part of the cathedral's interior. Its undoutedly a worth seeing place. It looks amazing in the night with the surrounding lights.

Palacio de Bellas Artes ("Palace of Fine Arts"): It is the premier opera house of Mexico City. The theatre is used for classical music, opera and dance. Construction of this massive neoclassical building began in 1904, the palace was not completed until 1934. It is the home of Mexico's National Symphony Orchestra, the Bellas Artes Orchestra, the Bellas Artes Chamber Orchestra, the National Dance Company, and the Bellas Artes Opera. Most of the world's great orchestras and dance companies have performed here.

Floating Gardens of Xochimilco: A highlight of any trip to Mexico City is a visit to the canals and gardens of Xochimilco. This place is known as Venice of Mexico city! The name Xochimilco means "flower field place”, the flowers that lined the streets of the city and its rooftop gardens took root here. It is pronounced as sotʃiˈmilko in Spanish. The touristed canals are lively, particularly on weekends. Boat ride is the speciality of this place.Brightly-colored, squarish boats carry up to a dozen passengers. There are always plenty of vendors (in smaller canoes) with food and drink, souvenirs, and music. Hire a floating mariachi band..Three songs for 200 pesos, they will entertain you with their music through out!

Basilica de Guadalupe: It is an important piligrimage site and is visited by several million people every year, especially around December 12th, Lady of Guadalupe's Feast day. The Basilica is considered as the second most important sanctuary of Catholicism just after the Vatican City. The modern basilica was built between 1974 and 1976. It can accomodate 50,000 people to take part in a mass or other ritual celebrations!

The Pyramids of Teotihuacan: One of the important places that we missed in our trip was the pyramids of Teotihuacan, a must-see when visiting Mexico City. The name means “place where gods were born,” echoing back the belief that the gods of the world created the universe here. The Teotihuacán Pyramid is the second largest in the New World (after the Great Pyramid of Cholula) .Teotihuacán history is an enthralling web of mystery.

If ever you get a chance to go to mexico city, do not miss the chance. We tried to cover most of the places in this short trip. Hope you liked my presentation and find this post informative.

History of M and M Chocolates!!

There's a favourite candy in the United States, Its called M&M's or they are called M&M's, whichever is correct. Their radiant colors and the petite size just draws attention of anyone, especially kids!!

Forrest Mars invented the recipe for M&M's chocolate during the Spanish Civil War. Legend has it that on a trip to Spain, Forrest Mars encountered soldiers who were eating pellets of chocolate that were covered in a hard sugary coating to prevent them from melting. Inspired by this idea, Mr. Mars went back to his kitchen and invented the recipe for "M&M's Plain Chocolate Candies".

First sold to the public in 1941, "M&M's" Plain Chocolate Candies became a favorite of American soldiers serving in World War II. Gradually they became widely available to the public, who gave them an excellent reception. The letter "m" is printed on each candy with vegetable dye.

M&M's were not a blazing success when they were launched but now its popularity spread all over the world. They were first sold to the public in cardboard tubes. In 1948, the packaging changed from a tube to the brown plastic pouch known today.

They were just plain chocolate candies earlier with a RED color, but today they come in different kind of flavors and colors...popular flavors being Peanut m&m's, Almond m&m's, Dark chocolate m&m's, Milk chocolate m&m's, White chocolate, Mint and Crispy m&m's. Now apart from red they come in yellow, light yellow, orange, green, blue, aqua, white, cream......

Have a look at some of them. I guess you had enough TEMPTATIONS for today......!!!!!!!!

Lindt Chocolates Wrapped n Unwrapped!!

Have you ever tasted Lindt chocolates. They are sooo tempting that you cannot stop with one bite. These are my favourite chocolates. Try the Lindor truffles if you haven't tried them yet, you will not go for any other chocolate.

The story of Lindt chocolate is one that begins with Rodolphe Sprungli-Ammann a candy maker, who owned a small confectionery shop in Zurich, Switzerland. He had heard about a new recipe for making solid chocolate and decided to try his hand at it. The chocolates were met with great success and after two years he started up the first chocolate factory in Zurich.

Lindt was one of the most famous Swiss chocolatiers of the period and it became a brand name in 1899. Today, Lindt chocolates are manufactured in Europe and the United States and sold all over the world. Lindt chocolates are made with the finest ingredients including cocoa from the Caribbean and the Ivory Coast and do not use ingredients that have been genetically modified when making their famous chocolates.

  • Among the products sold by the Lindt chocolate company are the classic candy bar with raspberry, blueberry, caramel, and other delicious flavored fillings, kirsch batons, chocolate wafers, Swiss thins (thin wafers of chocolate), and assorted chocolates in seashell shapes. Among truffles you have so many varieties like Ameretto, dark chocolate, Hazelnut, Milk Chocolate, Mint, Peanut butter, Raspberry, White chocolate!
These are the temptations!!!

Niagara Tulips!

Tulips are one of the world's most easily recognized and loved flowers. They are not too elegant, too romantic, too big, too small, or too bright; the tulip is always just right.

Niagara-on-the-Lake in Ontario, Canada looks terrific during spring time as Tulips of many different colours and varieties adorn the streets and parks waving graciously in the breeze. When i visited Niagara last summer, i was just astonished by the beauty around and all i was doing was click...click...n click!

The meaning of tulips is generally Perfect Love. Originated over ten decades ago in Persia and Turkey its popularity spread quickly all over the world but people still identify cultivated varieties as "Dutch Tulips."

Different colors of tulips also often carry their own significance. Red Tulips are most strongly associated with true love, while Purple Tulips symbolizes royalty. Yellow Tulips represents a common expression for cheerful thoughts and sunshine. White Tulips are used to claim worthiness or to send a message of forgiveness. Variegated Tulips, once among the most popular varieties due to their striking color patterns, represent beautiful eyes.

Here are some of the beautiful pictures of tulips just for you. They are so attractive yet so peaceful. Enjoy seeing them!
